Overview

Our telomere group was involved in an international collaboration to identify FISH probes for the unique telomeric regions of each human chromosome (National Institutes of Health et al., 1996).

The total number of clones included in the complete telomere set is 41 rather than 48, since the X and Y chromosomes share homologous sequences at both telomeric pseudoautosomal regions and no efforts have been made to obtain the telomeres of the short arms of the 5 acrocentric chromosomes.
